Bacolod Coronavirus Updates

BACOLOD HEALTH AUTHORITIES CONFIRM FIRST COVID-19 POSITIVE PATIENT

PUI number 1 has been declared positive by RITM, 20 March 2020. Based on the tests on previous PUIs, the City Health Office (CHO) has received 13 negative results and recorded only one positive case.

Now confined in a Bacolod hospital, the COVID-19-positive patient is now well and recovering according to his Doctor but still under isolation.

He is a 56-year-old male patient who traveled from London and arrived in Bacolod on Feb 29.

There is information spreading online about his destinations but this is strongly-discouraged by authorities as this violates the privacy of persons and is punishable by our law.

In a press conference Friday night, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said he received the confirmation from the Department of Health (DOH)-Western Visayas regional director Marlyn Convocar.

Mayor Leonardia has already ordered an intensive contract-tracing, as well as the stricter imposition of lockdown, curfew, check-up points, and social distancing to flatten the curve.

Most of all, washing of hands is very important.

As of March 20, there are 11 patients under investigation (PUI’s) admitted to various hospitals in Bacolod. Seven are males, four females. Five of them are new admissions.

“All these patients are in stable condition,” said Dr. Grace Tan, spokesperson of the City Inter-Agency Task Force Covid-19.

There are also 1,123 persons under monitoring (PUMs) in the city.

“They are being monitored by the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams,” Tan added.
